Apologetics Study Group

EveningMorning

Hi everyone!

As mentioned last Sunday Ben is stoked to be starting up an apologetics group at Northridge. This is something that’s been on the minds of some of our young adults for the past while and so he is really keen to get stuck in.

Some key points:

  • We will be meeting fortnightly, commencing on the 22nd  March @ 4-5pm before evening church on Sunday
  • We will meet in the Green room, just off the auditorium
  • Topics for study will be communicated 2 weeks’ in advance (where possible)
  • Everyone is welcome! Feel free to bring your kids, your dad, your friend if you want to! The more the merrier
  • We would also, of course, encourage you to join us for evening church immediately after if you can!

The study topic for our first group is “How was the bible put together?”.
This will aid us in answering questions in an evangelism context like “isn’t the bible just stuff people have written down”, “hasn’t the bible changed heaps over time”, “why do you trust the bible” etc.

Ben found this lecture by Tim Mackie really helpful in understanding some of this topic – it’s a long watch, but it’s well put together

Format:

  • This is not a lecture or a sermon – it is more of a book-club. The aim is to learn from each other’s research and grow in understanding together
  • We’ll discuss, under an overarching topic, some questions that we will pitch to the group and we can go from there. There’ll be a bit of figuring out the best way to run this space together in the first few weeks and that’s ok!

If you would like to join us here’s what you need to do:

  • Come along to Northridge on the 22nd March @ 4pm
  • Please research into this topic however you see fit in the lead up and come as prepared as you can be. Even a little is good.
  • If you can note sources or scriptures, that’s also great! If you happen to not prepare however, we still want you there!
  • That’s it!
