Over the last year or two, God has been stirring up in our worship team a passion to start writing songs that would enable people to encounter the love and majesty of Jesus. Our heart is that these are Christ-centred songs that glorify the name of Jesus and reflect His kingdom here on earth.
6 months ago, we recorded a live album of original Northridge Vineyard songs on 30 November 2024. These songs have now been produced, mixed and mastered and we are launching our new live album on Friday 30 May 2025, exactly 6 months after our recording night.
Our vision for this album is that it would be a reflection of heaven – bringing God’s kingdom here on earth, worshipping Jesus for all he has done, and the hope that we have now in Him beyond this life as we praise Him now and forever.
Our songs are not just for our community but for the wider church body of Christ.
What Heaven Looks Like was recorded live at Northridge Vineyard Church, Thornleigh, 30th Nov 2024

Brayden writes: "This song came from the 2023 Vineyard National Conference when Putty Putman spoke on the Kingdom on earth (and our subsequent series on this). The image he used stuck in my mind with the two rings which overlapped, and the example with it was that the Israelites received their daily manna which was a supernatural act of God and his Kingdom breaking through on earth. Hence the title “day by day”, that we don’t just need this once, but we need God to continually break through in a supernatural way for us to be sustained. The connection was made between this miracle in Exodus and the Lord’s prayer in Matt 6, where Jesus tells us to pray “give us today our daily bread”. We need His power and life each day."

Brayden writes: "This one took a few rewrites, but was birthed from a heart to sing of what Jesus has done in salvation, and that he deserves all the praise because of it. Through forgiveness and grace, we are compelled to have a response of worship, no matter our circumstance, in the same way the whole earth cries out in praise. A few passages which influenced this are as follows:
1 Peter 2:9-10: That we have been redeemed and received His mercy, we live in His light
Matt 5:14-16: That we would be people of light - unashamedly letting the world know of Jesus
Psalm 144 - 150: Psalms of praise, in every season, and all creation will praise the Lord"

Brayden writes: "Matilda and I wrote this reflecting on His faithfulness through every season. That all worries and cares can be given over to Jesus because He is our provider and protector, and has more than we could ever need. Imagery used inspired by Matt 6:25-34, where Jesus tells us not to worry."

Brayden writes: "I appreciate this song is probably the most unique, with lots of imagery and is a bit of a journey, but I think it could have a place as it breaks the standard worship song trajectory and will be balanced out by some of the simple songs. The picture for this is a bit of a story of salvation, starting with coming to know Him (verses describing what He is like), taking a leap of faith and choosing to follow Him (pre-chorus and chorus), and finally entering into heaven’s gates (bridges, describing what it will be like as pictured in Revelation)."

Brayden writes: "This song came out of a desire to simply declare the grace Jesus has bestowed on us and respond in repentance. There were a couple of talks in church towards the end of last year which related to this theme and I recall some powerful ministry for individuals. We don’t often sing specifically of forgiveness in church but I think this could be quite impactful, as ultimately we are recognising our need for Jesus and are surrendering to Him.
Originally I had a couple of verses and a different/longer chorus for this, but I think keeping it so simple could help us focus on repentance and surrender."

Brayden writes: "I wrote this one a few years ago. This was on a retreat, enjoying creation and being in stillness. The key scripture which influenced this was Psalm 91. The Psalm describes the Lord as our refuge who gives us help when we ask and has a secret place, which is the chorus. The verses characterise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit individually. I recently added a simple bridge as a bolder expression of the Lord as our dwelling place, but could go either way as to its inclusion."

Brayden writes "To be honest I can’t exactly recall the topic of the talk, but the melody and lyrics for V1 and the chorus came to mind when we were listening to a talk at the leaders conference in Melbourne last year. Afterwards, I went to the passage in Revelation 4-5 to finish the song. Its purpose is to illustrate heavenly praise, and worship as we will be doing together for eternity."

Brayden writes "This is perhaps a song you wouldn’t sing congregationally every week, but I think it has a place. In a sense, it describes the “not yet” of our expression that we live in “the now, and the not yet”, and it would sit just after a song about praise in heaven (as we move to the end of Rev). This was written with the context of loss in mind, which I would assume to be a very common experience, and is aimed to be a hopeful expression of “a new heaven and a new earth” (Rev 21:1). Similar in theme to Phil Wickham’s “Hymn of Heaven”, but instead of a praise focus, we move to surrender, and ask Him to build His Kingdom here (bridge)."

Brayden writes "Certainly the simplest of all the ideas so far, but this could sit nicely at the end, that when we come together in worship and praise, this is a glimpse of how wonderful heaven is when we will sing together forever. By this point we’ve come full circle, from asking His kingdom to break through on earth (first song), to a moment of worship which reflects heaven on earth through praise. Even from a practical perspective this could be a special moment I pray people might remember, if we’re in the round singing together with the cross at the centre of it all."
Our hope for this project is that it will bless and encourage songwriting amongst the Northridge Vineyard Church community and the wider Vineyard Movement.
